An important gift will transform MoMA’s holdings of Latin American art

"Today, these works are incredibly rare. You couldn’t duplicate this collection," says MoMA director Glenn Lowry of the just-announced major gift from the Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros, which will add more than 100 works of modern art by major artists from Latin America to our collection and establish the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Research Institute for the Study of Art from Latin America. The donation—of 102 paintings and sculptures—comes from Patricia Phelps de Cisneros and her husband, Gustavo Cisneros. It will increase MoMA The Museum of Modern Art's Latin American paintings and sculpture by as much as 50%


As well as 102 artworks, the donation includes a new research centre in Manhattan
